deep thoughts

If a baby rolls from his tummy to his back, and no one is in the room at the time, does it make a sound?

(Scott says he put Jonah on his belly on the playmat and left the room for a minute, and baby had flipped sunny side up while he was out.)

What it is like to love a baby:

It’s like the worst crush you’ve ever had, times a thousand, and you’re pretty sure the only way to satiate it would be to eat him.

What is it about wanting to eat our children? I still want to eat up my sons and they are ruffian schoolboys, far too big for such nonsense. Is it our Mediterranean Mommy genes, or do other ethnicities of mother love their children so passionately that sometimes they just think they have to eat them?

This is weird. I know it sounds weird. None of us really wants to eat our children. It’s just… They are so darling and delicious!

He’s so cute! And I’m so totally jealous of the hair. My baby is still bald.

Carrie’s last blog post..So he’s clearly not the son of Midwestern farmers

I settle for nibbling, but my favorite is to tickle him with my nose just under his chin. They sure look tasty at that age.:)

Those pics look just like you! You are lucky you survived with all your parts. You were very yummy. Instead of biting you I would put my mouth on your belly and blow making that blaaaaaaaaaaat sound. You liked that.

Oh, I could just eat my baby up, too. I could just *eat* him. Starting with his adorable squishy big feet, and working up.

And I’m definitely not Mediterranean, so who knows?! I heard a SAHDaddy say that, too, while I was pregnant, so it’s not even a mummy thing. Perhaps it’s a ‘primary caregiver’ thing? You just want to get closer and closer until it’s just ‘Yummm, and eat the baby.’

Yes Gillian, I knew I would regret making the ethnic hypothesis as soon as I posted it. So now I regret it. Ak. It’s just a human thing, not even female. eat the baby…

Nana thinks he looks like Calm Mama but I think he looks a lot like daddy’s side of the family. However Calm Mama and spouse resemble each other in some ways so maybe there’s something to it all…

Oh don’t regret it! It was just a hypothesis, after all!

I do think it has something to do with being really close to the baby, though – I don’t think my hsband has quite such an overwhelming urge to eat the little one as I do!
