My doctor reviewed my six days of diet and exercise notes and home glucometer testing results and said that my blood sugar numbers look good. Especially the fasting numbers (first thing in the morning) which are the most critical. In her opinion, I do not have gestational diabetes.
Hooray!
Since I’m “so motivated,” she suggested I check myself about once-a-week, just to keep an eye on things. Will do!
Am also going to try to keep to some of the diabetic dietary guidelines I learned through all of this, because I like having my blood sugar more even: eating protein with carbs, eating smaller meals and snacks about every two hours, watering down juice, TRYING to eat more vegetables. It’s not so bad (except for the vegetables).
In other news of the good variety, the L.A. baby shower was lovely — and yielded a lot of loot, including two strollers (the Peg and the Zooper) and five blankets, plus high chairs (stationary and portable), swing, boppy, a library of children’s books, stuffed animals, onesies, bibs, bedding, and baby’s first cowboy boots.
I learned today from a swim class cohort that you can never have enough blankets: one for the stroller, one for the car, one in each room… so we’re doing well.
And maybe it’s the power of suggestion, but I read in one of those welcome-to-the-29th-week emails I receive that I might feel the boy moving around more than before. All day in fact. Sure enough, he’s been dancing the Conga in there, ALL DAY. I don’t mind. It’s very reassuring.
That baby conga is IMO the BEST part of pregnancy!
Yeah! It’s pretty great!
Glad you liked the gifts. Can I change my name to Nona? I hear it actually means grandmother in another language. I wish I knew what language. I like the sound of it and it is sort of different and the baby hasn’t met me yet. What do you think? Must decide before I finish the baby blanket so I can sign it.
