This morning, Jonah told me he had stories to tell. And then he told them, one after the other.
I have no idea where the data came from for the Dragon story. The Zebra story is a variation on one that I made up for him a few weeks ago, based on his pajamas that have a Zebra in a car, but his embellishments (cost, sprinkles, flavors on shelf) are all his. The Elephant story had a more elegant arc on first telling, but when I sat down with him just now to type it into the computer, he told me the new version, with poo. Basically, it was similar to the Zebra’s travails, but with a different flavor ending.

Once upon a time, there was a Dragon. He was a nice Dragon. He was not a mean Dragon. He was a nice Dragon.
He lived far far away in a Mountain in a Cave. He lived there with Bats, and Mice. The Mice were dressed like bats. He also had Pumpkins.
The Dragon breathed Fire out of his Nose. And his Mouth.
It was the Dragon’s birthday. So he had a dragon birthday cake. Chocolate with Vanilla frosting. Green frosting. Because the Dragon is also green.
He opened the presents first and then they ate the cake.
He had a train.
(What’s that sound? That’s an airplane flying by. I think it’s a jet plane.)
He got a Jet Plane. A BIG one. He could go inside it. And his room was the sky.
And then they cut the cake into tiny pieces and put them on plates. And everyone ate the cake.
And then they asked for more cake.
The Dragon served the rest of the cake.
The Dragon and the Train gave the children the cake. Gave the Mouses the cake, and the Bats the cake.
The End.

Once there was a Zebra and he LOVED strawberry cupcakes.
One day, he drove to the bakery in his red beetle car. He parked the car. He opened the door and got out. He slammed the door shut. He went clop clop clop into the bakery.
He asked for the lady if she had ANY strawberry cupcakes.
She went to the cupcake section and she saw banana cupcakes and zucchini cupcakes and apple cupcakes and orange cupcakes. And WAAAAAY in the back was a strawberry cupcake.
It had pink frosting and a pink wrapper and a red strawberry on top.
She gave the cupcake to the Zebra. And he asked her how much it costs. She said 5 dollars or 8 dollars. He gave her 8 dollars.
And then she put sprinkles on the cupcake. Rainbow sprinkles.
And then he took the wrapper off the cupcake and he ate it.
The End.

Once there was an Elephant. He LOVED blueberries. He went poo poo in the potty. Poo poo and blueberries rhyme together.
Is that what happened?
No.
Are we done making up stories?
Yes.
I love little boy stories, they are the best!
He’s gonna be a writer like his Ma :-))
Love all of this, but especially when the zebra went “clop clop clop.” AWESOME.
