advent-hannukah t-minus 2: christmas cookies

So, today, Jonah got to go with the Nanny to a friend’s house and decorate Christmas cookies. The two nannies and their charges often hang out together, riding the bus (a toddler favorite) and such. Lila and her nanny had baked the cookies earlier in the day and provided icing materials. Apparently all among them agreed that NO ONE would eat ANY cookies during the decorating part.

When he got home, Jonah was practically busting out of his body to get a bite of those cookies, cookies he’d decorated 100% ALL BY HIMSELF. We could barely contain him to get them photographed before we all dove in. Note he got to nibble a few before the camera was located.

He took bites first, and then authorized us to taste them.

Because I’m not super Christmas savvy, I thought one of them was a pink J. But it was actually a candy cane, with Jonah’s attempts at red/white striping. I felt the blue Christmas stocking was a nice touch because that made it feel kind-of Hannukah-ish, for me. And their decision to also utilize peanut butter and raisins for cookie decorating? Genius.

We could totally do this with Hannukah shapes too. If I had any energy and time for it. Maybe next week, after latke-geddon is over.

60+ people have said yes, with a 10-person raft of maybes. But the forecast is for rain. Stormy, dark, freezing, rain. Am tempted to stand at my front door with a clicker to count the total attendees.
