sick sick sick

We’ve been sick for going on three weeks now. Jonah decided that the symptoms he’d been having weren’t fun enough, so on Sunday he picked up a virus that makes his throat all red and scratchy and spikes him a fever of 102.9. We went to the pediatrician to get tested and to make sure it’s nothing serious. Now, we just get to wait it out.

Poor guy. He tossed and turned and mumbled and cried out all night long. The fever seems to have broken for the moment. He’s napping now, at 10:15 a.m., his second nap of the morning.

(And as soon as I wrote that, he woke up, nursed, and conked out again.)

I should be getting something done with this time. Well, I’m blogging, so that’s something.

I wish I could remember what it was that I thought I was about to do (after I’d finished blogging) when he woke up just then and I’d said to myself, Darn! Now I can’t…

Motherhood is confusing, and a little hazy. He’s nursing pretty much nonstop, so that’s got my gray matter all soaked in oxytocin again.

Maybe I’ll take a nap, too.

I’m sick too. I got it yesterday. I need a wonderful mommy like Jonah’s to take care of me. Jonah is lucky to have you. Sniffle, sniffle, caugh, caugh!

Napping is the best policy. And you keep lists, so when you find yours, you’ll remember what you were going to do. If not, well, you didn’t need to do it all that much anyway.

Also fevers are healthy. They kill viruses and other malign cells.

Hope Jonah is feeling better soon! I can’t wait for the winter germ season to be gone. Everyone in my house but me has an ear infection — even my husband! No fun.

And yep, everything gets a little hazy when you’re a mom. So naps are good. Wishing I could take one now…
