happy halloween: me and my monkey

Dear Old Navy,

The costume didn’t exactly look like the photo in the online catalogue. But I kept it anyway because I couldn’t be bothered to go through the whole return this and risk not liking the next one either thing. I’m a new mom (still playing that card, ahem) and a to-do-list item to-done is worth more to me than you can possibly know.

However, I’d just like to point out that if you changed the colors in photoshop, that’s just mean. And besides, I think you added the plush banana-in-pocket because you knew it didn’t actually look like a monkey.

Thanks anyway.

Julie

This post has the pic of what I thought I’d ordered.

Here, is what he wore. And of course he made it work, because he’s adorable. Also, we gave him a real banana. Vive la verite.

I think, therefore I hold a banana…

mmmmmmellow yellow

whatchu talkin bout banana?

And then we took the show on the road…

…to a Halloween for Tots party at the Berkeley YMCA

with Laura and Flann en bear costume (and our respective husbands of course).

The ball pit was very popular.

We all four stayed in it until our time was up and just as we were climbing out, Scott said, “Has anyone else noticed that it smells faintly of pee?”

Yummy.

(Chants to self: good for the immune system immune system immune syst…)

    Awwwwwww…

Did you notice how much the friend’s bear costume resembles J’s monkey costume? At least in the photo.

The ball pit … yes, it’s great fun. Sanitary??? not so much. Oh well.

You all look like you had a terrific time, and Jonah is old enough that he looks like he was having fun. Younger babies just look surprised for Halloween.

I miss you guys! Must come see you soon! Or can you come to see us? tomorrow?

My son was the Old Navy monkey costume 2 years ago and I loved it – it was so warm and cozy and he wore it ALL the time- we got some good use out of it. (plus he would eat bananas more frequently just to be “in character.”)

    Very cute!!

    Adorable, simply adorable.

And yeah, buying things online (oh, how I love to do that and avoid shopping with kids in tow) can be a bit tricky/disappointing. Argh.

What Leila says is true. We coulda just swapped out the heads and the guys wouldn’t have looked that different.

Uh, the heads of the costumes. Not the heads of the babies.
