Now that he’s nine months old:
He definitely has opinions. And he’s getting more adept at expressing him. Not that book, no more oatmeal, give me that peach or I shall tear my own head off with my bare hands.
He can move, faster than you think.
He thinks the edge of the bed is just a vertical surface to which he will adhere as easily as he does to horizontal surfaces. Baby as army-crawling Spiderman, the mini version.
He loves animals. We went to the little farm again yesterday, this time with Scott, and my parents and sister who are in town. I forgot to give everyone lettuce. I had much fun being the designated feeder, while Scott leaned into the animals with joyfully wiggling baby en Bjorn, and sister and dad attempted to capture the moment. (Photo posting to follow at later date.) Some babies fear animals, some are indifferent. Jonah is a huge fan of the entire kingdom.
He’s got a big head. 75th percentile. Height 48th. Weight 5th. Doctor says, “We’re happy as long as he doesn’t fall off the charts.” He’s as close to the edge of those as he is to the edge of the bed! But we’re keeping an eye on him. He certainly eats. A lot.
Ricotta cheese is a big favorite these days. Cream cheese, not so much.
DVD cases and remotes without the batteries are super fun. As are sunglasses. As both toy and teething implement.
Based on drool and fussiness increases, we expect to see those top teeth sometime in the near future.
There’s a lot on the baby milestones list he’s not doing yet. Crawling with belly off the floor, waving greetings upon entrance or exit, assigning the mama and dada sounds to an actual person.
However, he is delightfully interactive and social, babbles up a storm, and greatly enjoys his Leprechaun dance (will have to video this). He also has a special game where he shakes his head vigorously, and then you shake your head vigorously and then he laughs, and then you both do it again.
Between that, and his pleasure at being swung, held upside down, etc., and his deep love of sticking his hands in other people’s mouths, we figure him for a future space dentist.
I just love hearing about all of his developments – i CANNOT believe he is already nine months old!

We were at Little Farm yesterday, too. Alas that we didn’t see you. (Flann just kinda looks at the animals with a jaundiced eye, like “Why aren’t you on my plate yet?”)
Must try ricotta. Have to vicariously enjoy this full-fat-feeding stage while it lasts.
