So I cut his hair for the first time on Sunday. I kind of regret it, though Scott says it looks nice.
It’s just that it was getting so long in the back. And I’ll admit that the more than once he/she mistake from strangers was starting to bug me. But mostly, I just thought it might look nifty if I evened out the bottom, just on the back.
I thought I could pull it off. Jonah likes his spa treatments — diaper changing, sponge bathing, hair de-tangling, nail clipping — all of which he submits to without complaint, however he rarely submits to any of it while sitting still. Trying to cut hair on a moving target, and when I’ve never cut hair before… at this point in the story, Scott would definitely say that I am exaggerating.
I’ll say this: at least it will grow back.
The funny thing about his hair: have you noticed how piece-y it is? He came into the world with a “full head” and never lost it, but he had patches where hair wasn’t, so now, he’s got this lovely rakish ‘do. I thought that if I trimmed the bottom, in the back, the older and newer hair would be… unified.
Scott’s mother cut his hair. Maybe she’ll come to town and cut Jonah’s. Because, as much as I thought I might could just imitate what I’ve seen hairdressers do to me a million times, it didn’t work so great. And hair really frames a face, you know.
So now we have the scar, and the bad haircut. Sigh.
Of course, I’ll have to take a picture. Right now, you’ll have to believe me when I say it makes his head look rounder. And babies already have inordinately round heads. My bad. Sorry buddy.
Of course he’s also still completely devastatingly adorable. It’s just a little hair. And I’m just a squee bit perfectionistic.
We definitely need to see a pic, you’re right! I am SURE that it looks just fine. You can’t expect to get it perfect on your first try.

Where is Michael Villlla when we need him? Did you save the first little wisp you cut?
I am so sure that he is still the most adorable creature ever.
Do want to see picture, do!
Folks mistook Jonah for a girl? Feh. Folks need glasses, then. Clearly he’s a very manly little leprechaun.
