We did it. I did the 11:00 feeding, since I was still awake, and Scott handled the 3 a.m. feeding, and therefore I got to sleep from about 11:30 to 6. Wow. (Say it again with hand gestures for the folks at home — make a “W” with the three fingers of each hand, press against each cheek, mouth wide for the “o” — WoW!)
It feels like a new day. Seriously.
I went poking through some of my old blog posts, because I have lately been trying to reassure a friend that things do get better at 14 weeks, and I found this post, wherein I’d reported the boy had slept 7 hours. Wow. Where did that baby go? That must have been before the teething.
And speaking of that, where did the teething go? Suddenly, he’s no longer gnawing on things and crying, desperate for relief. No frozen carrots needed lately. And forget about the FIVE BOXES of Ashton and Parsons I had shipped from England (and the shipping cost more than the “powders”) after my friend had sent me the first box to try — because it seemed like the only thing that really helped and now… he’s fine. No teeth yet. Still occasionally rubs his gums maniacally over the rubber-ball end of some of his teething toys, making a squeak squeak sound. But not the histrionics of previous.
Two nights running, he’s let Scott rock him to sleep again. Hurrah. And this morning, he went down for his first nap without complaint.
So, we’re back on the good foot, somewhat. I think I’ll try this sleeping thing again tonight.
Whooo! Glad the world is looking sunnier today!

Isn’t it amazing what a good night’s sleep can do?!
