Insomnia again. Went to bed at 11. Up again since 1. Now it’s almost 3. Have nearly cleaned out the Tivo of the shows I watch when Scott is not around. The really bad shows (Bachelor, Desperate Housewives). Shows that one can only bear with the fast-forward button in hand, in the middle of the night.
Wide awake. Boy has been moving a lot. He’s awake too.
Would maybe start the sweater I’m planning to knit for him, except I’m one skein short and somehow starting before I have all the yarn doesn’t feel quite right.
Finished an infant beanie for him this morning, shades of blue with a little tassel. Jaunty, small, sweet.
Today was the knitting, a little bit of work, the appointment with the psychic chiropractor (all is well, pelvic bones needed adjusting, arm says I don’t need to do non-stress tests at this time, but if circumstances change, that could change — we’ll see what doctor says on Friday), a little more work in afternoon, the slow-cooking (finally!) of the boston butt roast (a husband-pleasing favorite), the swim class, the coming home to husband having made side dishes for the pork roast, the blissful eating of dinner, the watching of good TV from the Tivo (Pushing Daisies), the pulling out the notebook from childbirth education class to review for tomorrow night’s quiz, the getting into bed, the husband’s reading of the meditation and hypnosis scripts (sometimes it’s live, sometimes memorex — live is nicer), the attempt to sleep, and now the insomnia.
Ta daaaa…
Tomorrow should be interesting. Maybe the adrenaline will carry me through. This is nesting, or something, right?
After a small amount of strum und drang, we did make it out of town to the hot springs on Saturday, B&B Saturday night, back home Sunday in time to pose for pictures with the maternity photographer. Several outfits, some without outfits, some with and without Scott, and of course the traditional belly with hands (his, mine). Was very fun.
Scott said he liked seeing me feel so pretty.
The next few weeks are full of appointments, classes, tours: doctor, doula, accountant, exercise, chiropractor, gardener, handyman, babycare and breastfeeding workshop, infant CPR class, birth center visit… and the local friends’ baby shower!
We still need to get ahold of the baby car seat from our friends and get that installed, need to purchase leg extenders for and assemble the bassinet (for which the organic mattress I ordered has yet to arrive).
I figure whatever doesn’t happen now, Scott will have to run out and take care of during that 48 hours I spend at the hospital.
It’s so unfair to suffer sleep disruption even before the baby comes — I am sorry! Loved the peek at the photo session though.
I never slept at night when I was pregnant with any of my four kiddos. Now sleeping during the day was another story.
What an exciting time for you. Enjoy every single moment.
The pictures are great, you look great! All sounds like it is on course, brings back memories of running arouond buying everything for you while Mom was in the hospital! It all works out!
My best friend just had her first baby. I’ve had two babies of my own, but it’s her first, and her first of mine, if that makes any sense. I’m a total wreck. I hear her on the phone — all those feelings. The sheer joy, mixed with terror, sadness, pain, worry, exhuastion … and did I mention the joy?
I am so excited for you. Enjoy these last six weeks, and remember NO ONE IS EVER READY.
You look just beautiful.
