It’s a… healthy boy. At least as far as chromosomes 21, 18, 13, x, and y are concerned. FISH test results came back “normal,” and now I can relax. Of course there are the other pairs of chromosomes to worry about if I want, and that extra toxo test I took, for just in case, but still, a major weight has been lifted.
It may be due to that, or it may be what we read in the chapter corresponding to 17 weeks in the baby book for dads, but it seems like we’re all bonding a little bit more. Scott has definitely taken to talking to my burgeoning tummy, a tactic I find quite delightful and ticklish.
So we don’t know what to do with a boy. I had sisters only and although I have nephews and baby sat for them I never had to do diaper duty (ha!) I see that as the first hurdle. My friend Dee who had both a boy and a girl advised me to put the clean diaper under the baby first. Then put the baby down. Open up dirty diaper while holding said diaper over penis to avoid getting peed in the face. Clean bum. Slide out dirty diaper without moving the clean one and voila fold clean one around baby and there you have it. Am still trying to figure out how this ballet works out without getting excrament all over the place. Hoping Mom and Dad will have it all worked out and will give me lessons.
Otherwise I am very gung ho about a baby boy. Always thought I had missed out on something “je ne sais quoi” of life not having one.
Will save the hand knit french baby dresses for Michelle or if no baby girls in my future, might frame them. They are so pretty.
A big congrats to you! I had a feeling it was a boy since I had not heard from you . . .and I don’t know anyone who would be able to not look at that piece of paper for this long!
I’m so excited for you . . .plenty of boys in my family . . .they are so sweet! And just think, you’ll have TWO men who adore you! How lucky can a girl get? love ya, Meg
