The adorable, colorful, alphabet foam puzzle mat we got for the living room?
Kind of a bust.
The boy loves to pull it apart. Put the smaller bits in his mouth (probably not a good idea — definitely not strong enough to withstand his new teeth). And when he fell over this morning? Missed the mat.
Still, it’s cute.

We have one of those too. Pretty sure it has pthalates. Which makes it extra-tasty-crispy-fun for Megan.
It’s good though because it takes up more space, right? And new parents definitely need more clutter!

I ordered ugly square mats rather than the pretty alphabet ones because I’d heard the latter were hard to keep clean. Flanny doesn’t chew too much on those ordinary blue ones I have, and they’re easy to vacuum and/or wash down in the tub as needed. But I’m sure the ones I have are full of noxious chemicals: I could smell chemicals when I unwrapped them, and I washed them down before setting them out.

oh, the mats. my daughter would always tip over from it onto the hardwood floor. Totally negating the purpose. and then she decided it was all about tearing it apart, and watching mommy put it back together. I finally had to put it away until she’s older (she’s 16 months now, and i put it away about a month ago).
