i’m sick (and news of baby’s firsts)
I don’t get sick very often.
I was just going to say that, Scott said.
My nose is running. I have chills. Is this what comes from being around so many people? Probably. I don’t get sick very often. I don’t think I’ve been sick with a baby yet. This will be challenging?
Can I take a night […]

we’re bloghering
Or rather, we did last night, and we WILL be again, as soon as Jonah wakes up from his morning nap.
Never wake a sleeping baby, even when you’ve paid $300 to attend a three-day conference (plus $50 extra for the onsite childcare you probably won’t use) and the only part you are REALLY interested in […]

we’ve been sleeping
…among other things which have apparently kept us from blogging.
I didn’t want to jinx it by talking about it — due to the curse of the web that takes away that which one joyfully boasts about on one’s blog as soon as one hits publish.
Jonah’s 10-hour-continuous-sleep nights have continued, lo this last week. Both of […]

a historic day (night?)
Last night, he slept 11 hours straight. No waking. Not a peep.
I’m in shock. 6:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
I was grinning like an idiot during his entire morning feeding. Scott passed the doorway of the nursery, saw my face. “Do you need something?” “Nope.” Smiled even bigger. This is NOT how I normally look and […]

6 things jonah could teach the world about being
I’m way overdue in responding to Laura’s meme tag. Been thinking about it a lot, if that counts.
This could also be titled, 6 things I love about Jonah, but I realized that if the world would take his lead on this stuff, we’d all be better people.
1. Smile widely. Not just showing more teeth. (Anyway, […]

i’m sorry, it varied
I know I said I wouldn’t. But if I don’t talk about it, I don’t have anything to talk about.
And anyway, the rule I set up was that unless his, you know, VARIED, from the previous two posts, I was going to give the topic a rest.
Be careful what you blog about.
That night, he performed […]

sleep, coda
It’s not over until the skinny baby sleeps.
I thought I could get away with a nice sum-up and move on. But then, something happened that was different and I just had to write about sleep one more time, ONE MORE TIME, because every time I hear someone report something semi-sane about how their baby sleeps, […]

sleep, the conclusion?
I haven’t used up my year of discussing sleep, but I think we’ve hit enough of a pattern over the last few days that I can sum up.
As many moms have reported — thank you for all of your comments! — letting your baby cry before bed does not necessarily mean that after three days […]

ugh.
So, tell me when this gets better.
In my apparent ongoing efforts to live-blog sleep training, an update.
Not only is this difficult, it’s embarrassing. Embarrassing to admit that I let my baby cry, because part of me thinks that is SO WRONG.
How did I get this far?
For one thing, he’d worn us down. In all his […]

wow.
Last night, he slept for eight hours. In a row. Nursed, went back to sleep for another three hours. Amazing.
His morning naps are clocking in at closer to two hours lately.
Our evenings seem so much calmer and more spacious.
But here’s my question. When is the OUT part of CIO going to kick in? As in, […]
