the evolution of cocktail conversation

It wasn’t so long ago that I was wildly happy to hold forth on the many virtues, natures, shades, moods, of poo.

Now, if you hadn’t already noticed, my favorite topic is sleep. Deep sleep, shallow sleep, rolling sleep, stationary sleep, sleep positions, sleep locations, sleep accoutrements, sleep schedules, sleep rituals, and on and zzzzzzzzzz….

new things

Yesterday, we let him try an organic strawberry popsicle. Is that bad? Just a lick. Or two. We figured the icy coldness would feel good on his gums. Of course I worried about food allergies after, but his throat didn’t swell up so we’re good for now.

He seems verrrrry interested in food. He watches . . . → Read More: new things

what goes up…

It’s 5:42 a.m. Should I be blogging now? Should Scott be building playsets? Should Jonah be swinging in his swing and chastising the circling jungle creatures overhead?

No / I guess — if he wants to / According to the book, No.

It could be me. Especially during the Hawaii trip, I got in the habit of taking the boy into the bed to nurse lying down. I can’t tell . . . → Read More: sleep deconstructed

traveling with baby: kauai, days seven and eight

How did one week go by so fast?

Day seven was hazy. Baby hazy. The boy went on one hour nursing jags in the morning, interrupted by a nap and a mega-poop-tacular, which altogether kept us from leaving the condo until 11 a.m. High winds, cooler weather, maybe a little exhaustion kept us from “leaving . . . → Read More: traveling with baby: kauai, days seven and eight

traveling with baby: kauai, days five and six

On the morning of day seven, looking back, a little drowsy, trying to remember all the things I wanted to report here… This post will include my food and recreation recommendations if you ever make it to Kauai after reading this.

It’s unanimous: the majority of day five was a bust. We drove to Waimea . . . → Read More: traveling with baby: kauai, days five and six
