Carla: Oooh, I hope the pants still fit at six months. If not, I'll go get them taken in, I guess. Something to be hoped for, really.

Leslie & Stacy -- Good on ya! Wish that worked for me. I tried the mail order thing when I was pregnant (I HATED maternity clothes stores) and got burned out on the returning. I'm unusually shaped even on my best days, so if I can swing the store thing, it's a better bet for me.

Athena: I heard about some study that showed that people are more satisfied with the clothes they bring home than when they are considering buying them. Something about the brain being determined to have us be happy with what we have, so we actually can be happier with things if we buy them. Even if they're not the right size. If that makes any sense. I've still got the two shirts in the bag with the receipt because I'm not ready to commit...

Katie: Oy! Target. I should, I should, I should!

Good on you for getting out there! I just had my little boy 5 weeks ago - my third child. There's no way I would shop for clothes without help. I don't even do the grocery shopping without hubby. Some great advice I was given was to buy the bare minimum of clothes for the first 6 months as your body shape changes. For retail therapy focus on accessories... handbags, jewellry, makeup etc. Hope your next trip out is more fun.

I feel you on this! I've resorted to ordering most of my clothes by mail.

I hope you enjoy what you bought!

You're a braver woman than I! I think my first shopping trip for clothes was when my son was 18 months old.

Up until that point, it was mail-order all the way! It's more hit or miss and I spent a bit of money sending things back, but I at least got to try things one without feeling too rushed (though I did tend to panic when my one-year-old would toddle toward me with applesauce hands -- "Wait! Wait! No! I'm not sure if I'm keeping this yet!!")

Anyway, I hope you enjoy your new clothes.

It's amazing how much I can relate, wow. It makes me feel as though I'm not so alone in all of this (am feeling lonely today.. .)

My recent shopping trip didn't go so well as I was so rushed that I bought too-big shirts. Oh well, big shirts it is. I also only managed to find one skirt but didn't think about how I don't have good shoes to go with them in this weather. . .so it's pretty much useless. Going out is so difficult. At least you have a car! Cars are a hassle where I live but carriages are impossible to navigate when there's lots of snow. So I'm stuck with a sling which makes it very hard to do anything with other than walk.

I guess we'll get used to all of this eventually!

Brave woman! I still don't go clothes shopping on my own--I either leave the kiddos with someone or try to get my mom/sister to go on a "girls day out" with me (then let them watch the kids when I try stuff on--hey, I'd do the same for them).

Of course, all of this plays into something else that a lot of people "don't get." Why so many moms love Target and live in jeans. If you're anything like me, your body isn't done changing. And the tummy will get better. It will never be the same again, but it will still changes.
