I have been tagged by DaMomma and so here I go…
(Some memes are fun and others give me a headache. Like the kind where you have to answer three hundred questions including things like which ice cream flavor, chocolate or strawberry, and that one was fun the first time I got it in an email and forwarded it to ten of my friends when email was new and dewy-eyed but not so much anymore — headache. But, quick, easy, oddball questions — fun.)
So, here’s the rules (which might be a creative variation on the 7 random things meme that made the rounds during NaBloPoMo)
1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2. Share five random and/or weird facts about yourself on your blog.
3. Share the five top places on your “want to see or want to see again” list.
4. Tag a minimum of five random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment in their blog.
* * *
1. I was tagged by the awesome, brilliant, I am honored to know her, DaMomma
2. Five (new) weird/random facts about me (as opposed to the seven I’ve previously shared)
* I always eat the crispiest french fry first, which means that as I proceed through a basket of them, it’s a case of diminishing returns.
* When I was a kid, all my stuffed animals were named “dog,” or “bear,” or “bunny” etc., as appropriate to their species. Live pets however had actual names. For example, I had three goldfish named Herman, Sherman, and Tiny Tim (but I have no idea why or how I came up with that particular trio of monikers).
* I almost majored in math in college.
* I almost never carry an umbrella when it rains, or wear a raincoat. Unless it’s really really really pouring.
* I wear the same pair of earrings every day — each a tiny square made from four tiny diamonds. My grandmother had them made out of an old piece of jewelry disassembled, and gave them to me when I was 13.
3. Five places to see, or see again:
* My husband and I would like to go back to Tabacon Hot Springs in Costa Rica. We spent our honeymoon there and wonder how early is too early to go back with a baby.
* I could use up my next 4 just listing countries in Asia. I’ve never been to any. For this one I’ll say Japan.
* How about Bali?
* I’d like to go back to England again to visit my friend Heather, her husband Simon, and kids Lauren and Ewan. I met Heather here when I moved into an apartment with her and another roommate in 1992. She moved back to England in 1994. I haven’t visited her there since before Lauren was born. Heather was just in town for a day this week (she’s an air hostess for British Airways) and I got to see her for an hour.
* I’d like to take Scott to Italy. He’s never been. I’ve been four times and there is so much more to see and so much I’d like to see (and eat) again.
4. Five people to do this to/too (If you’d like).
I’ll pick (on) a few of my new internet friends…
These are, along with the divine Ms. Liz, some of the guest bloggers who saved/held up my (sore) butt those first two weeks after I gave birth, by giving me some fabulous guest posts to post.
Only 5 places, huh? A challenge!
Love the picture of you in the waterfall.
mayberry’s last blog post..I may be a freak, but I’m a skinnier freak
Oh, your random facts are delicious! And I didn’t know a single one. As for your places to go, I vote for Berlin as number 6. Visit me! Visit me! Visit me!
Lilan’s last blog post..Them Barcelona Blues
oooh you tagged me. I just did a tag. But I’ll do this once since it’s you!
As for the sleep thing – I found all my babies slept so much better in noisy surroundings. I was always strict (for my own sake and perhaps it sounds cruel?) about putting them down in their cribs awake but I did often leave them with music for company. I don’t recall much crying in protest because they prob didn’t feel they could compete with the noise I left on!
But whatever you do – this is such a short space of time – really none of it matters at all. You do what is best for you. Baby will be fine. Mine all survived.
Oh and with regard to travelling. It is so much easier to travel with a baby than a toddler. Go for it!
Reluctant Blogger’s last blog post..Perfect Day
Mayberry, please feel free to do more than 5. Didn’t you do a whole series of posts about travel a while back?
Lilan, how could I forget Berlin? Perhaps I’m in denial about your putting down roots there!
And TRB: Am so glad to hear I’m not the only one with a noisy baby environment and glad to hear that yours survived. You are a veteran!!!
